Hyderabad: Power demand in areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is expected to rise sharply this summer compared to last year.
In 2024, the highest electricity demand recorded was 4,352 megawatts (MW) on May 6. This year, officials believe the maximum demand could go beyond 5,000 MW.
Musharraf Farooqui, Chairman and Managing Director of the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL), shared this information during a meeting with staff from the Secunderabad and Hyderabad Central Circles on Saturday.
He said that electricity usage has already increased significantly during the current Yasangi crop season, which has added to the overall demand.
