Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy spoke about the importance of the Alai Balai festival, highlighting its role in promoting the state’s rich culture and spreading the message of unity. The event took place at Nampally Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad. CM Revanth recalled how the festival played a significant part in bringing people together during the Telangana movement.
He mentioned that the Alai Balai festival helped in the formation of the political Joint Action Committee (JAC), which was crucial for the success of the Sakala Janula Samme, a mass protest during Telangana’s struggle for independence. The Chief Minister emphasized that the festival goes beyond political differences and gathers leaders from different parties to celebrate Telangana’s cultural heritage.
CM Revanth also praised Bandaru Dattatreya, the current Governor of Haryana, for his dedication in organizing Alai Balai for the past 19 years. He recognized Dattatreya’s efforts in keeping Telangana’s traditional practices alive through the festival.
He further added, “Just as the Palapitta bird and Jammichettu tree are symbols of Dasara, Alai Balai reminds us of Bandaru Dattatreya. I also congratulate Bandaru Vijayalakshmi for carrying on this tradition as Dattatreya Garu’s successor.”
The event was attended by several governors from across the country, including Haryana’s Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana’s Tamilisai Soundararajan, Uttarakhand’s Gurmit Singh, Meghalaya’s Vijay Sankar, Rajasthan’s Haribhau Kishanrao Bagde, and Union Minister Kishan Reddy.
Through the presence of these leaders, CM Revanth underlined the importance of preserving Telangana’s cultural identity for future generations.
