Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has sparked a debate with his recent comments on the floods in Khammam. He claimed that the severe flooding was largely due to land encroachments. Specifically, he pointed out that a hospital built on encroached land made the disaster worse.
Reddy criticized Minister Harish Rao, urging him to tackle the problem of illegal encroachments and their effects on the area. He mentioned that Khammam received 42 cm of rainfall, which is the highest in the past 75 years, making the flooding even more severe.
Despite the criticism, Reddy also praised the government’s quick response. He said that their timely actions were vital in reducing the number of lives lost. He emphasized that the government’s planning and readiness were key in managing the disaster’s impact.
