Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited Sarapaka in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Saturday. During his visit, he spent time with a local family who benefits from the government’s free rice distribution scheme. The chief minister sat down for lunch with the family, showing interest in their daily life and experience with the scheme.
The visit was part of his ongoing tour across the state. He went to the home of Mr. Srinivas, a recipient of fine rice provided by the government. This rice is distributed for free to people with white ration cards. The chief minister spoke with the family to understand how the scheme is helping them.
The Telangana government launched this free fine rice scheme to support people with low incomes. Each person on a white ration card gets six kilograms of fine rice every month. The scheme currently helps about 3.1 crore people across the state.
Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has encouraged other leaders to do the same—visit families receiving benefits and share a meal with them. He also visited a family in Suryapet to better understand their needs and show support for the welfare program.
The government is also planning to issue new ration cards. Families Below the Poverty Line (BPL) will receive tricolour cards, while families Above the Poverty Line (APL) will get green cards. This move aims to improve the way services are delivered and organized.
The Chief Minister’s visit happened on Sri Rama Navami, a festival day, which added to the excitement. Many locals came out to welcome him, and the event went smoothly with the help of security and officials.
