Hyderabad: The Telangana government is asking Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to help fund major infrastructure projects, including the Metro Rail and Musi River development.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, leading a high-level team, met with JICA’s Senior Vice President, Shohei Hara, on Thursday. They discussed possible support from JICA for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. This phase is expected to cost ₹24,269 crore.
The state is looking for JICA’s help to cover nearly half of the project cost—about ₹11,693 crore. The Chief Minister assured that Telangana is following all rules set by the Indian government for foreign loans.
Revanth Reddy also shared his vision of making Hyderabad a global city like New York or Tokyo. He asked JICA to consider funding the Musi River Rejuvenation Project and the construction of new radial roads.
In reply, Shohei Hara appreciated the ongoing partnership with the Telangana government. He encouraged the Chief Minister to continue working with the central government to move these projects forward with JICA’s support.
