Wanaparthy District: District Collector Adarsh Surabhi has emphasized the importance of timely vaccinations for all newborns, particularly against polio.
On Wednesday, the Collector unexpectedly visited the health sub-centre in Annaram Gram Panchayat within Panagal Mandal. During this visit, he observed how the staff administered vaccines to children.
The Collector stressed the necessity of vaccinating newborns against polio and other diseases promptly. He instructed the staff to regularly inform mothers about vaccination schedules. Mothers receive a booklet detailing which vaccines are needed at various weeks, and they should ensure their children are vaccinated accordingly.
Additionally, the Collector recommended exclusive breastfeeding for newborns, discouraging the use of canned milk. He noted that breastfeeding is crucial for boosting children’s immunity and should be maintained for the first six months.
District Medical and Health Officer Srinivasulu, Program Officer Sainath Reddy, as well as other officials like the Tehsildar and MPDO, accompanied the Collector during the visit.
