Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh has issued a warning and a memo to the headmistress of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Gonupadu village, part of the Gadwal Mandal. The action was taken because the school failed to serve mid-day meals according to the set nutritional guidelines.
On Wednesday, the Collector made an unexpected visit to the school. He evaluated several aspects including the classrooms, kitchen, drinking water facilities, and the quality and hygiene of the mid-day meals. During his visit, he spoke with students, encouraging them to prioritize their studies and strive for high academic standards. He also inspected the attendance records.
The Collector stressed the need for regular student attendance and instructed teachers to support students who are struggling with their studies. Due to the school’s failure to follow the meal guidelines, he ordered a memo to be sent to the headmistress.
He insisted that meals should meet nutritional standards daily to support the students’ health. Only fresh vegetables and quality ingredients should be used, and the kitchen and utensils must always be kept clean.
Collector Santosh emphasized that students are entitled to quality education, nutritious food, and good health. He made it clear that any negligence in these areas would not be accepted.
He also instructed the school to implement the Facial Recognition System daily for accurate tracking of student attendance and to update UDISE entries promptly. Maintaining a clean and sanitary school environment was also highlighted.
School staff, students, and local officials were present during the inspection. The visit demonstrates the administration’s dedication to enhancing education quality and student welfare in government schools.
