The political situation in Maheshwaram constituency is becoming intense even before the BRS leadership announces its list of candidates. This is due to the recent murder of social activist Shaikh Sayeed Bin Abdul Rehman Bawazeer, which has left people and political parties worried.

Many people are expressing their frustration over the increasing crime rates, particularly in Pahadishareef, Balapur, and Bandlaguda areas, which are adjacent to Jalpally. Jalpally is known for land grabbing and land mafia activities, as there are large government lands in the municipality.

Bawazeer gained popularity by using social media platforms to bring attention to the hardships faced by people, especially in Osman Nagar area. He held the AIMIM-BRS leadership responsible for these issues, which is believed to have led to his brutal murder. This incident has deeply affected both the people and political leaders in the constituency.

Following Bawazeer’s killing, four individuals, including Ahmed Bin Hajab and Ahmed Sadi, who is the AIMIM in-charge of Jalpally municipality, were arrested. Ahmed Sadi’s son Abdallah Sadi, who is the municipal chairman, and Mohammed Ayub Khan were also arrested. Two other accused individuals, Omer Sadi and Saleh Sadi, are still on the run.

Leaders from various political parties in the constituency believe that this shocking murder will have a significant impact on the political dynamics and may influence the election outcome.

Just a week after the murder, the first list of BRS candidates was released. It included P Sabitha Indra Reddy, the Minister of Education and a current MLA, as a candidate from the constituency.

However, there have been defections within the BRS party, causing political tensions in the constituency. Several leaders have switched their allegiance to the Congress party in recent months. Some notable defectors include Mayor of Badangpet, Parijatha Narsimha Reddy, Kotha Manohar Reddy, and former chairman of Ranga Reddy ZillaGrandhalayaSamasthaKapatiPanduranga Reddy.

Although there were reports of former GHMC Mayor Teegala Krishna Reddy joining the Congress, his recent meeting with Sabitha has raised doubts about his intentions. Both the Congress and BJP parties continue to protest against the BRS in Maheshwaram.

A significant number of people from different parties in Maheshwaram constituency have joined the Congress, including around 300-400 individuals in the Jalpally municipality alone, according to Abdul Bari, the vice-president of Jalpally Municipal Congress Committee.

The defections within the BRS party have caused concern among party leaders and members in the constituency. Additionally, there is speculation about possible action from AIMIM leadership against Ahmed Saadi and Abdallah Saadi after their arrest in the murder case. This could result in two vacant positions in the Jalpally area, where the party currently has 14 councillors in a 28-ward municipality.

People are eagerly waiting to see how AIMIM will handle the situation regarding Ahmed Saadi and his son. Unconfirmed reports suggest that both individuals may be suspended from the party.
