Congress party leaders in Khammam are competing for the opportunity to contest from the Palair Assembly constituency. Rayala Nageswara Rao, a member of TPCC, recently met with Baba Siddique and MP K Muraleedharan in Hyderabad to present his qualifications and suitability for a party ticket. He previously ran for the Palair seat in 2009 but was unsuccessful. Nageswara Rao has been actively involved in party activities and has worked to strengthen the party in the constituency.

However, there may be challenges ahead for Nageswara Rao and others, as former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has also applied for the Palair ticket. There are also rumors that YSRTP leader YS Sharmila and former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao may join the Congress and seek to contest from Palair. Tummala Nageswara Rao previously ran for the Palair seat in 2018 but was unsuccessful.

Maddineni Baby Swarna Kumari, a supporter of former MP Srinivas Reddy, is also a notable competitor for the ticket. Sharmila and Tummala Nageswara Rao have not yet submitted their requests for the party ticket. It remains to be seen how the party will handle these potential challenges and decide who will ultimately secure the Palair ticket.
