Hyderabad: The Congress party in Telangana is getting ready to assign each of the 33 districts in the state to specific observers. These observers have already been identified, and training for around 20 of them will start on Wednesday. This move is part of the party’s ‘Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan’ campaign, which aims to strengthen the party from the grassroots level.
According to party sources, a meeting will be held where PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC Telangana incharge Meenakshi Natarajan will guide the observers on their roles. The main focus will be on districts where the Congress party needs to build a stronger presence or where it faces strong competition from rival parties. One observer said, “I have been invited for the training session at Indira Bhavan. The districts haven’t been assigned yet, but I think the first list will have around 20 names. The rest will be added later. The focus is likely to be on weaker districts.”
The Congress party decided to appoint these observers on April 17. Based on the reports they submit, the party will choose new presidents for different levels, including district and mandal levels. This system is similar to the one used in Gujarat and is also part of the ‘Sanghatan Srujan Abhiyan’ plan.
In addition, the PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) will hold a Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting on Wednesday. AICC general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala will attend this meeting. Other attendees will include DCC (District Congress Committee) presidents, PAC members, state ministers, and top party leaders. The goal of this meeting is to resolve any internal conflicts among the leadership and to plan winning strategies for upcoming elections, including the GHMC and local body polls.
