Congress workers attempted to attack BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s Prajahita Yatra in Husnabad on Tuesday, causing tension in the area. The police intervened by deploying heavy force to stop the Congress leaders from disrupting the Yatra.
The BJP members were upset with the behavior of the Congress leaders and questioned why the police did not arrest them for carrying sticks. Even BJP leaders were prevented from reaching the Yatra site by police check posts.
BJP State leader Bomma Sriram Chakravarty was also stopped from attending the Prajahita Yatra camp and expressed his frustration with the police. The police explained that the tense situation warranted restricting movements towards the Yatra camp.
MP Bandi Sanjay voiced his anger towards the Congress leaders and warned them of serious consequences if they continued to interfere with the Yatra. BJP supporters rallied around Bandi Sanjay in solidarity.
Bandi Sanjay planned to start his Yatra from Bommanapalli in Husnabad, but the police blocked his route. He demanded that BJP workers be allowed to proceed and threatened to go to the Karimnagar Police Commissionerate if necessary.
Meanwhile, Congress party leaders criticized Bandi Sanjay for his comments about Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. The Chigurumamidi mandal president filed a complaint with the police seeking action against Bandi Sanjay.
