Hyderabad: A group of contractors protested at the office of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka in the Secretariat, urging quick payment of their overdue bills.
Over 70 contractors arrived at Finance Minister Bhatti’s office during evening visiting hours, intending to discuss their issues with him.
Secretariat security was alerted by the crowd and quickly intervened, asking the contractors to leave. The contractors, experiencing severe financial strain due to delayed payments, insisted on staying until their concerns were heard. They mentioned that their bills have been outstanding for three years, and they felt the government was ignoring their pleas.
This was the second recent protest by contractors in the restricted area of the Deputy Chief Minister’s chambers. In response, the Secretariat’s security decided to stop issuing visitor passes to the finance minister’s office. Further restrictions will likely be implemented, requiring prior permission for entry to the second-floor chambers.
