Gadwal – On International Workers' Day, also known as May Day, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPM, held a special event at its district office in Gadwal. District Secretary A. Venkataswamy raised the party flag and delivered a strong message to workers and party supporters.
Speaking at the gathering, Venkataswamy said that India is facing serious problems—economic struggles, political instability, and social unrest. He blamed these issues on capitalist-driven policies, accusing the government of favoring big businesses while ignoring the needs of ordinary people.
He sharply criticized the government’s actions, saying it is changing laws to benefit corporations, allowing widespread corruption, and weakening public institutions. He pointed out the rapid privatization of public industries as a major concern, warning that it leads to increased exploitation of workers and falling living standards.
Venkataswamy also highlighted the erosion of labor rights. He said workers are losing their ability to form trade unions and fight for their rights, which is deepening inequality.
He called on workers to draw strength from the historic Chicago labor movement, saying it’s time for a new wave of resistance. He stressed that the CPM will continue pushing for a system where workers’ needs come first and inequality is eliminated.
In a strong show of support, Venkataswamy urged workers, farmers, and citizens across the country to join the nationwide general strike on May 20. He said this strike is a necessary stand against the central government’s anti-people policies.
Several local CPM leaders, including Upper Narasimha, Naresh, Ramakrishna, Bhasha, Ranganna, Venkatesh, Ramudu, and Gajendra, joined the event to show solidarity with the working class.
