Ramakrishna Rao, the Chief Secretary, highlighted the urgent need for strategic planning to address the growing demands for essential services in Hyderabad and nearby regions.
He noted that these evaluations of local bodies are being carried out under the guidance of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Alongside officials from Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) and the Rangareddy District Collector, Rao visited Shamshabad Municipality for a review meeting. He gathered details about the municipality’s area and population during this visit.
The Chief Secretary assessed municipal services such as water supply, street lighting, drainage systems, and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). He underscored the importance of collecting property taxes effectively to fund the Urban Local Body’s activities.
After the meeting, he toured the Eco Park in Kothwalguda. Developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), this 85-acre park cost Rs 75 crore. Rao examined features like boardwalks, a bird aviary, and the arrival plaza. The park is expected to open to the public in two months after the plaza is completed, with an inauguration by the Chief Minister.
Rao also inspected the Budvel layout, another HMDA project. The Municipal Commissioner described its key features, including multi-use developments, wide roads of 45m and 36m, and planned infrastructure like water supply, drainage, and underground electrification.
