Hyderabad: On Friday, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand held a meeting to review the work of the city’s 7 Zonal Cyber Cells (ZCCs). These cells have resolved 8,209 cases and returned Rs 1.41 crore to victims of cybercrime.
The Commissioner praised the increasing awareness among people about using ZCCs for cybercrime issues, stressing how important this is for a safer digital environment.
The review focused on six key areas: handling of petitions, refund processes, case detection, public awareness, coordination using the Samanvaya Portal, and data uploads to CCTNS.
Notable improvements by the ZCCs include a 65.15% rise in petition handling, with 8,209 petitions resolved in 2025 versus 4,970 in 2024; an 87.03% increase in refunds, totaling Rs 1,41,72,664 across 768 cases; and a 680% increase in IR uploads to CCTNS, indicating better documentation. The use of the Samanvaya Portal for interstate coordination has also improved.
During the meeting, CV Anand spoke directly with Zonal DIs, SIs, and PCs to learn about the challenges they face. He addressed their needs and operational gaps, boosting their morale and showing the department’s commitment to helping them fight cybercrime.
The Commissioner praised the ZCC teams for their hard work and urged them to enhance cooperation with banks, telecom companies, and judicial agencies for faster resolution of cyber fraud cases. He also highlighted the need for ongoing training and public awareness to prevent cybercrimes.
