Hyderabad: With the monsoon season approaching, a crucial meeting took place to address urban mobility concerns. Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, the Joint Commissioner of Police for Cyberabad (traffic), and Sarfaraz Ahmad, the Metropolitan Commissioner of HMDA and Managing Director of Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), led the session.
Key figures from the Cyberabad traffic police and HMDA discussed how to prepare infrastructure and plan strategies to reduce traffic disruptions, especially around the Outer Ring Road (ORR). They considered building underpasses, flyovers, and foot-over bridges at busy intersections to ease congestion and help pedestrians.
The meeting identified major bottlenecks along the ORR and decided on on-site inspections to develop specific traffic management strategies. They emphasized the need to reduce road accidents involving pedestrians and two-wheeler riders by creating service roads and separated pedestrian pathways. Immediate actions to fix accident-prone areas, or ‘black spots,’ along the ORR were also reviewed to enhance safety.
Enhancing surveillance and enforcement was another focal point. Installing CCTV cameras at crucial intersections and vulnerable spots like TGPA, Narsingi rotaries, and PVNR Expressway was discussed to improve traffic monitoring and control.
