Cyberabad Traffic Police Issue Strict New Year 2025 Advisory with Heavy Penalties

The Cyberabad Traffic Police have released a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of New Year 2025 celebrations, announcing strict enforcement measures from 8:00 PM on December 31st onwards to ensure public safety during the festivities.

The advisory outlines specific guidelines for cab, taxi, and auto drivers operating during the celebrations. All drivers must wear proper uniforms and carry necessary documents. The police have warned that refusing rides is an offence under Section 178 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Charging excess fares or misbehaving with passengers will not be tolerated. Bars, pubs, and clubs across Cyberabad have been issued strict warnings against allowing intoxicated customers to drive. The advisory states that management will face prosecution for abetment if they fail to prevent drunk driving. Establishments are required to educate customers about safe transport options and arrange alternative transportation.

The traffic police will deploy special cameras throughout the region to monitor multiple violations including wrong-side driving, signal jumping, overspeeding, rash driving, and no-helmet violations. Parking violations will also be strictly enforced.

Drunk and drive checkpoints will be established across Cyberabad jurisdiction. Vehicles will be detained if drivers fail to produce proper documents. Vehicles with high-decibel music systems or missing number plates will be seized immediately. Minor driving cases will result in vehicle detention and prosecution of guardians.

The penalties for drunk driving are severe. First-time offenders face fines up to ₹10,000 or jail terms up to six months. Repeat offenders can be fined ₹15,000 with imprisonment up to two years. Driving licenses may be suspended or permanently cancelled.

In cases involving fatal accidents, the police will make arrests under BNS 2023 provisions. The advisory emphasizes that these measures aim to prevent accidents and ensure everyone celebrates safely.

The Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged the public to celebrate responsibly and prioritize road safety. The department emphasized its commitment to public safety with the message: “For your safety, always on duty.”
