Hyderabad – A team from the All-India Dental Students’ Association (AIDSA) recently met with Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha to talk about important challenges facing dental professionals in Telangana.
At the start, AIDSA President Dr MD Manzur Ahmed held a private conversation with the Minister. Later, other key dental leaders joined for a broader discussion.
The AIDSA team put forward several key requests. They asked for the appointment of dental surgeons in all government hospitals and medical colleges across the state. They also pushed for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (OMFS) to be posted at the 82 trauma centres being built along national highways.
Another major proposal was to bring back the Employees' Health Scheme (EHS) for dental services. The group also requested permission for private dental clinics to register under EHS so they can treat government employees.
Unemployment among dental graduates was another serious concern. AIDSA suggested creating a dental job calendar that would schedule regular recruitment drives, helping reduce joblessness in the field.
According to Dr Ahmed, the Minister welcomed their ideas and gave a positive response. He promised to review the issues seriously. The Minister also asked AIDSA to arrange a special meeting with 60 dentists in the first week of June. He committed to attending and spending two full hours listening to their concerns and ideas.
AIDSA expressed gratitude for the Minister’s time and support. They said his encouraging response gives hope for meaningful improvements in the dental health system of Telangana.
