Hyderabad: On Thursday, Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narsimha visited Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Hospital to ensure patients receive the best care possible.
He checked on those affected by contaminated toddy, visiting wards to speak with them. He offered reassurance, telling them recovery is expected in a few days.
The Minister instructed NIMS Director Dr. N Beerappa to enhance medical care for all affected individuals. In a media briefing, he stated that 33 people are being treated at NIMS and are stable. Four patients are on dialysis, with expectations of discharge in four to five days.
He promised a thorough investigation by the government, vowing strong action against those at fault and measures to prevent future incidents.
Previously, six people died and many were hospitalized after consuming tainted toddy near the Kukatpally area. Police arrested five individuals for their role in the adulteration.
