Hyderabad: The Telangana State Emergency Response Support System (TGERSS), accessed by calling Dial-112, plays a vital role in handling emergencies across the state. It ensures quick and efficient responses to dangerous situations, helping save lives and improve public safety.

Recently, emergency teams averted a major disaster at a Café Coffee Day in SR Nagar. On July 3, at 3:37 pm, Dial-112 received a report of a fire. TGERSS coordinated with SR Nagar police and the Fire Department, leading to the rescue of six people. One person was taken to the hospital with injuries, but no one died. The fire, caused by an electrical short-circuit on the ground floor, was put out in 20 minutes.

TGERSS also stopped harassment on the Devagiri Express. On July 5, a T-Safe app alert reported a male passenger taking photos and videos of women near Mirzapalli. Dial-112 worked with Shankarampet and Kamareddy police, as well as GRP Railway Control, to intercept the train at Kamareddy Railway Station. Police arrested the man and found unauthorized images on his device.

The system has been crucial in preventing three suicide attempts. On July 7, a call about a woman trying to jump from the Bahadurpura Flyover led to quick action. Bahadurpura Police arrived in minutes to save her. Similar interventions on July 11 near the RTO Office in Kondapur and on July 15 in Deshaipet, Warangal, also resulted in successful rescues.

In a positive outcome, Dial-112 helped reunite a missing child with his family. On July 10, an eyewitness reported a 9-year-old boy traveling alone on the Kerala Express in Warangal. His details were checked on social media to find his father. Coordination with Chhattisgarh Police and the Pursoli Village Pradhan located the parents. The boy stayed in a Child Stay Home under the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) before reuniting with his family.

These events show Dial-112’s quick and effective responses in various critical situations. TGERSS praised its team’s commitment to life-saving actions and quick interventions. The collaboration of field officers, police, and emergency departments is key to keeping citizens safe. People are encouraged to use Dial-112 when in distress.
