Thousands of people watched the grand celestial wedding of Goddess Balkampet Yellamma in Hyderabad. The wedding is part of the Ashada Masam Bonalu festival, showcasing Telangana’s cultural heritage.
There was controversy as officials allegedly did not follow protocols during the event. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi were upset that they were ignored when trying to offer silk clothes to the goddesses. The Minister was seen talking on the phone in frustration.
The Minister and Mayor had to wait outside the temple as officials tried to calm them down. The crowd at the temple was large, and the city Mayor even got injured in the rush.
Endowments Minister Konda Surekha presented silk clothes to the goddess on behalf of the Telangana government. Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy also took part in the wedding ceremony. The main roads around the temple were closed for traffic, and despite the protocol issue, everything else went smoothly.
