Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh has instructed officials to ensure everything is ready for safe and smooth Ganesh Chaturthi and Milad-un-Nabi celebrations in the district.
At a meeting in the Collectorate Conference Hall on Saturday, he emphasized the importance of thorough preparations. He highlighted the need for temporary road repairs to prevent accidents and encouraged maintaining harmony during the festivals.
This year, Ganesh immersion and Milad-un-Nabi processions are close together, so the Collector urged early planning to avoid incidents. Due to ongoing rains, he stressed careful pandal construction and warned about electrocution dangers.
He called for continuous monitoring during the Ganesh idol immersion. Officials must provide swimmers, cranes, lighting, ambulances, drinking water, barricades, traffic control, sanitation, and emergency medical teams. Cranes should be at key immersion sites like Krishna River (Beechupalli), Jammi Chedu, Nadi Agraharam, and Jurala project backwaters to avoid accidents. Fire services must stay alert.
Excise officials are to ban liquor sales on immersion days. On Monday, all officials will inspect arrangements in the field. The Collector, along with the SP and district officials, launched a Pollution Control Board poster advocating clay idols for environmental protection.
District Superintendent of Police Srinivasa Rao advised using last year’s experiences for planning. Heavy rains filled local water bodies, so extra safety is necessary. He ordered removing trees blocking roads and setting up barricades at immersion sites, with expert swimmers ready.
The SP noted that as Ganesh immersion and Milad-un-Nabi coincide, Peace Committee meetings are held at each police station to prevent tensions. He promised tight police security, with officers at every pandal, ensuring peaceful celebrations through community cooperation.
The meeting included Additional Collectors Lakshminarayana and Narsing Rao, AO Bhupal Reddy, DSP Mogulayya, District Medical Officer Siddappa, Irrigation Officer Srinivasa Rao, Fisheries Officer Shakeela Bhanu, Electricity Department Officer Tirupathi Rao, Tahsildars, R&B officials, Fire Department staff, and other senior officers.
