Hyderabad: The Telangana App-Based Drivers Forum (TADF), representing many auto and cab drivers in the city, including those using Ola, Uber, and Rapido, has made two official requests to the state’s Transport and Labour Departments.
TADF urged the Transport Minister and Commissioner to set uniform, kilometre-based fares for autos, cabs, and ride-sharing services, like the system in Karnataka.
Shaik Salauddin, a TADF member, highlighted issues such as removing surge pricing, ensuring fare transparency, and regulating out-of-state vehicles on these platforms.
In another request to the Labour Department, TADF asked for a fixed fare rule to guarantee drivers earn at least minimum wage after expenses. They suggested extending the Platform Workers’ Law to app-based drivers and forming a committee with the Labour Department, driver unions, and companies to establish fair regulations.
TADF stressed the need for the platform economy to provide fair, dignified work with stable incomes. They stated that Telangana should lead in promoting fairness and transparency in this sector.
TADF is ready to engage in discussions and policy reviews to help the government regulate and improve worker welfare.
