Karimnagar:
After 24 years of protests and struggles, Dalit groups have finally succeeded in reclaiming the land allocated for Ambedkar Bhavan in Karimnagar. The authorities have now removed illegal structures that were built on this land.
On Thursday, government officials demolished encroachments on 20 guntas of land located behind Mamta Talkies in Karimnagar town. The land, marked by survey number 1104/22, had been reserved for the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan, but locals had built unauthorized structures on it. Following the removal of these encroachments, the district Collector officially handed over the land to the relevant authorities for the construction of the Bhavan.
This victory came after years of effort from the Dalit communities, who submitted thousands of applications to various government officials, including the Collector, RDO (Revenue Divisional Officer), MRO (Mandal Revenue Officer), and DD (District Development Officer). Under the leadership of the Collector, RDO, MRO, DD, and District Divisional Survey Officer Moiz, the land was surveyed, and the boundaries were clearly marked.
The Dalit communities expressed their gratitude to the government officials for their efforts in protecting the land. They specifically thanked the Collector, RDO, MRO, and DD for their initiative. The communities also requested the government to put up a fence around the land and to begin the construction of the much-awaited Ambedkar Bhavan.
Several Dalit leaders, including Banda Srinivas, Boinapally Chandraiah, Goski Shankar, Jeripotula Shankar, BJP Vice President GD Ramesh, Galipelli Srinivas, Galipelli Kumaraswamy, Kalvala Anand, and Gorre Rajaiah, were present during the event.
