The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) wants to stop the advisor system in Telangana. They think that retired bureaucrats shouldn’t be hired to help run the government. The FGG Secretary, M Padmanabha Reddy, thinks it’s bad for working bureaucrats because they get the wrong message. He also thinks it costs too much money – about Rs 50 lakhs per month. Reddy thinks it’s not good for the administration because it encourages corruption and makes it harder to follow the law. He wants the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to only hire advisors with special knowledge, like scientists or economists.

In May 2015, the Telangana government said that retired officers couldn’t be hired as advisors because they didn’t have any special duties. In Andhra Pradesh, when the government hired a lot of advisors, the High Court said it was a bad idea. They said that if they kept hiring advisors, soon every Collector and Tahsildar would have them.
