Archaeologists have discovered 12th-century stone quarries in Mannanur, Nagarkurnool district. E Siva Nagi Reddy, an archaeologist and CEO of Pleach India Foundation, found these quarries as part of the “preserve Heritage for posterity” program. The quarries are located near the 12th century Torana gateway and the Praparudra fort, close to the Srisailam ghat road.

The Torana and the fort were constructed using stones from these quarries 800 years ago. Nagi Reddy urged the public to preserve these historical remains and provide basic facilities to attract tourists visiting the Srisailam Temple town. This discovery is based on information provided by Telangana Historian Dyawanapalli Satyanarayana, who identified the Torana as Sivapuradwara mentioned in Parvatha Prakarana of Oanditaradhya Charitra written by Palakuriki Somanatha.
