Farmers in Peddavoora mandal held protests three times on Friday due to issues with urea distribution.
The first protest began when some farmers said only those who had previously received fertilizer were getting more.
Later, a group of women farmers protested, claiming they were being treated unfairly as urea was given only to men. More farmers joined in, complaining they couldn’t get any urea despite standing in line. Tensions rose as a farmer named Sriram Nayak lay on the Kodad–Jadcherla National Highway in protest, saying he had been coming for several days without success.
Traffic heading toward Miryalaguda and Nagarjuna Sagar was blocked until police cleared the road.
Former ZP Vice Chairman Karnati Linga Reddy got involved by contacting MLA Kunduru Jaiveer Reddy, former minister Jana Reddy, and the District Collector. Thanks to his efforts, two extra lorries with 880 urea bags arrived by afternoon, adding to an earlier shipment of 440 bags. In total, 1,320 bags were handed out that day.
Linga Reddy mentioned that Peddavoora mandal received more urea than any other area, with 1,600 tonnes delivered so far. Each farmer got two bags on Friday.
