Two sisters were fatally shot in Dr. Ambedkar Basti in RK Puram, south Delhi early on Sunday. The killers were apparently looking for the victims’ brother but ended up shooting the sisters instead. The police believe that the murders were a result of a money settlement issue but have not provided any further details. The victims’ brothers called the police at 4.40 am on Sunday morning. Pinky, 30 years old, and Jyoti, 29 years old, were the victims and resided in Dr. Ambedkar Basti with their family. They were taken to Safdarjung Hospital where they were declared dead.

The police have filed a murder complaint and are investigating other Indian Penal Code articles that might apply in this situation. Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and blamed the BJP-led central government for the tragedy, which oversees law and order in the nation’s capital.
