Hyderabad: The Telugu film industry is relieved as the Employees’ Federation ended its 18-day strike on Friday. This strike had stopped film shootings in Telangana. The resolution came after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy got involved, discussing the issues with both producers and the Employees’ Federation. Film productions are now back on track.
Dil Raju, a well-known producer, thanked the Chief Minister for his quick action in resolving the situation. He also appreciated the cooperation from the Employees’ Federation, Gangadhar, and labor department officials for their role in smooth negotiations. Dil Raju highlighted CM Revanth Reddy’s vision to make Hyderabad a major film hub in the country. As part of the new agreement, film workers will get a 22.5% wage increase. This raise will be implemented in three stages: 15% in the first year, 2.5% in the second, and 5% in the third, ensuring fair distribution. Besides the wage increase, several other worker demands have been met.
To address remaining issues, the government has set up a special committee led by the Principal Secretary. This group will examine unresolved matters and provide a report within a month, ensuring ongoing dialogue and fair outcomes.
Anil Vallabhaneni, President of the Employees’ Federation, also thanked the government, the labor department, and the Labor Commissioner for their vital role in resolving the deadlock. He noted that while the union usually handles such issues on its own, the state government’s involvement was key this time. With this agreement, the industry is ready to regain its pace, as film shootings resume in Hyderabad and other areas.
