Hyderabad, Oct. 30: The stretch between Langer Houz and Nanal Nagar has become one of Hyderabad’s most frustrating traffic bottlenecks, with commuters spending up to an hour trapped in gridlocks every evening. This crucial corridor serves as the main entry route for vehicles coming from Moinabad, Vikarabad, and Suncity, funneling massive inflow into the city through extremely narrow lanes.
What was once a smooth commute has now turned into a daily nightmare. Motorists say that the U-turn near Bapu Ghat is a major choke point, where vehicles pile up in all directions, blocking the entire stretch. “Even after waiting for 15 to 20 minutes at Langer Houz, we again get stuck near the flour mill junction at Nanal Nagar — it’s a double traffic trap,” said one frustrated commuter.
Adding to the chaos, the Premier Hospital junction has become another flashpoint. The narrow road, uncompleted underground pipe line works, and encroachments severely restrict vehicle movement, particularly during peak hours from 4 PM to 10 PM. On weekends, social media is flooded with videos showing traffic jams lasting well past midnight, with commuters venting their frustration at the lack of regulation or on-ground management.
Despite repeated complaints, no immediate relief measures have been taken. The government has sanctioned a multi-level flyover under the HI-CITI Projects, but the project remains in the survey phase and may take up to four years to materialize. Meanwhile, traffic congestion is worsening by the day.
Local residents and motorists are now demanding short-term interventions to mitigate the crisis. Suggestions include:
-
Clearing the road blockages and illegal parking near Bapu Ghat,
-
Road widening at the Premier Hospital junction, and
-
Developing an alternative corridor from Suncity to Attapur to divert incoming traffic.

Urban planning experts also stress the need for better traffic signal synchronization, deployment of additional personnel, and removal of encroachments to improve road capacity.
Citizens warn that unless urgent steps are taken, the Langer Houz–Nanal Nagar stretch could soon become a permanent gridlock zone, severely affecting connectivity to western Hyderabad and causing daily hardship to thousands of commuters.
