A significant fire broke out at the Forensic Laboratory near the Nampally police station on Saturday. The fire started on the building’s first floor, causing damage to important documents. K. Shilpavalli, the Hyderabad Police Central Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police, reported that the fire is now under control.
According to the DCP, authorities were alerted about the fire at 10:00 AM. She identified a short circuit as the cause. This laboratory is crucial for crime investigations and managing evidence. It is still uncertain if any vital files were lost, although the first floor contains computers and important equipment.
Shilpavalli mentioned that five fire engines were involved in putting out the fire. An office boy working in the building first spotted the flames, informed the authorities, and attempted to extinguish the fire himself. Unfortunately, he fell ill and was taken to the hospital by a 108 ambulance. Four employees who were inside the building at the time noticed the fire and escaped safely.
