Hyderabad: A significant incident recently occurred at the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory. A fire broke out, leading to the destruction of 1100 crucial files. A specialized team from the National Institute of Fire Safety Engineering in Nagpur is investigating the situation and attempting to recover the lost data.
On February 10, Telangana Director General of Police B Shivadhar Reddy confirmed that experts from national bodies like the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and the National Institute of Fire Safety Engineering have joined the investigation efforts.
There have been suspicions from BRS leaders that high-profile case materials, including those from the 2015 cash-for-vote case, were lost in the fire. However, DGP Reddy dismissed these claims as false.
The fire that erupted on February 7 was thoroughly investigated. TGFSL Director Shikha Goel assured that evidence from major cases, such as cash-for-vote and phone-tapping, remained unaffected by the blaze.
DGP Reddy stated that a detailed investigation is underway, with experts working to recover any damaged data from servers. He emphasized that materials related to the cash-for-vote case had already been transferred to the court, ensuring their safety from the fire.
Similarly, all reports from the phone tapping case had been submitted to the appropriate authorities, securing them from any potential fire damage.
