MULUGU: In an effort to support tribal communities, the Mulugu District Police and CRPF launched an awareness program called “Poru Kanna Ooru Minna – Mana Ooruki Tirigi Randi.” This initiative highlighted government and police rehabilitation benefits, leading five CPI (Maoist) members, including two women, to surrender to Dr. Shabarish P, IPS, the district’s Superintendent of Police. Among them, one held an ACM rank, while the others were party members.
Since January 2025, a total of 73 Maoist members from various ranks have left the group in Mulugu. The ranks include 3 DVCMs, 10 ACMs, 22 PMs, 29 militia members, 1 RPC member, 2 DAKMs/KAMSs, and 6 CNM members. They all receive government rehabilitation support.
The declining influence of the Maoist party has prompted many lower-level members to reject their leaders and seek peaceful lives with their families. This shift has seen 73 members return to the mainstream in Mulugu alone.
Support from local tribal villagers has waned, causing supply shortages and deteriorating health among Maoists. Most Maoists are poor tribals, and many are choosing to leave the group for family development and community growth.
Remaining Maoist members are encouraged to embrace the initiative’s message and reintegrate into society. Those who surrender receive significant financial rewards, immediate aid, and rehabilitation benefits.
The Telangana Government is committed to tribal development, and the Police Department is dedicated to this cause. New police camps in Karreguttalu forests will help tribes freely access resources.
Tribal communities are urged to recognize that supporting Maoists hinders area development. Only democratic governance can bring growth, aligning with the Police Department’s goal of ensuring peaceful living and progress.
