In response to complaints about food quality in Hyderabad, the GHMC’s food safety officer began inspecting eateries in the city. Teams checked various hotels ahead of Ramzan. The health-conscious public had reported unhygienic conditions, stale food, and even insects in biryani.

The GHMC urged all hotel managements to follow food safety guidelines and maintain cleanliness. Food safety officers tested street vendor food and reminded vendors of the importance of quality and hygiene. During Ramzan, inspections were conducted at hotels, restaurants, and haleem vendors.

Hoteliers were instructed to follow the Food Safety Standards Act 2006, especially when preparing haleem. They were reminded to maintain hygiene and not place haleem ovens on upper floors. Owners were also encouraged to source meat from approved suppliers for quality and safety.
