Mahabubnagar District Superintendent of Police, D. Janaki, IPS, shared an inspiring message with future healthcare professionals. She encouraged medical students to act responsibly and ethically, stressing that tomorrow’s doctors must first become good citizens.
During an Orientation and Anti-Ragging & Anti-Drug Awareness Programme at the Government Medical College in Mahabubnagar, SP Janaki urged students to maintain discipline and avoid ragging and drug use. This event catered to new MBBS students, their parents, and seniors.
“Medical students will serve society as future doctors. Be role models,” advised SP Janaki. She also urged parents to monitor their children’s behavior and friendships. She stressed safety, advising male students to wear helmets on bikes, and warned against drug use. “One wrong choice can ruin a promising life,” she said.
Addressing senior students, SP Janaki firmly spoke against ragging. She called it a serious crime that can harm academic careers and reputations. “Create a supportive environment for juniors. Avoid intimidation or violence, as it’s strictly banned,” she emphasized.
To junior students, she recommended open communication and respect, advising them not to misinterpret interactions with seniors. “Report any harassment by calling 100 or contacting the college’s anti-ragging committee or police,” she advised.
SP Janaki assured the audience that the Police Department, SHE Teams, and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) are committed to student safety.
The event included Dr. Ramana, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Kiranmayi, Academic Vice Principal; CI Gandhi Naik; Inspector Srinivas; IT Cell In-Charge Raghavender, faculty, and students.
