Gadwal: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), along with the Rural Development Society (RDS) and other groups, held an awareness event at Gadwal Railway Station today for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30.
Legal Aid Defense Councils spoke at the event, explaining the day’s main aim is to help human trafficking victims, protect their rights, and ensure their safety. They stressed that human trafficking is a serious global human rights issue.
This year’s theme is “Use and Abuse of Technology – Stop Trafficking, Protect Victims.” It highlights using technology to prevent trafficking and protect those at risk.
Speakers pointed out that millions worldwide, including women, children, and men, are tricked, forced, or falsely promised into trafficking. They often face forced labor, prostitution, and abuse. In India, many women and young girls are trafficked under false job or marriage promises.
They urged a combined effort from the government, police, NGOs, and social activists to enforce anti-trafficking laws, identify victims, and ensure they receive proper help.
The event included Legal Aid Defense Council members Mr. V. Rajender, Mr. B. Srinivasulu, Mr. D. Lakshman Swamy, Railway Police, and several NGOs.
