Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka took part in the Extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Tuesday. This meeting was part of a two-day All India Congress Committee (AICC) session being held in Ahmedabad.
Other leaders from Telangana who attended included CWC member Damodara Rajanarsimha, PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, and special invitee Ch Vamsichand Reddy. Later in the day, the Chief Minister visited the Sabarmati Ashram, where he tried spinning yarn on a charkha, just like Mahatma Gandhi used to do.
At the AICC convention scheduled for Wednesday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to talk about Congress’s success in winning the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections. He may also share ideas on how to strengthen the party, especially in light of recent losses in other state elections.
Revanth Reddy is likely to speak about how the Congress government in Telangana is implementing welfare schemes and fulfilling promises, even though the state is facing financial challenges. He may explain how the government is working to overcome these problems and help the state progress.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, while speaking to the media at the CWC meeting, recalled that Gujarat was the place where Mahatma Gandhi began his freedom movement after returning from South Africa. He said Gandhi gave the powerful message of Satyagraha from the Sabarmati Ashram.
He added that the Congress party remains committed to Gandhian values. However, he warned that the hard-won freedom is under threat from the BJP, which he accused of weakening democratic values and limiting freedom of speech.
According to Bhatti, the BJP is trying to divide society and supports crony capitalism. He said the ruling party focuses more on gaining power than on developing the country. In contrast, he stated that the Congress party stands for public welfare, democracy, and freedom, in line with the Constitution.
