Jitendra Awhad, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), resigned from his position as National General Secretary on Wednesday. He sent his resignation to Sharad Pawar, who had resigned as NCP president the day before. Many other office holders also resigned. Awhad announced his decision on Twitter.

Pawar’s announcement came as a shock during the launch of his memoirs on Tuesday. Leaders and members of the party were surprised and begged him to change his mind. His nephew, Ajit Pawar, said he would reconsider. The party is now meeting to decide who will be the next NCP president.

Sanjay Raut commented that there could be fear and panic in Maharashtra and across the country after Pawar’s decision, and what will happen in the coming days is unclear.
