Hyderabad has taken steps to ensure safety in parks after past dog bite cases. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) now requires only licensed pets in these areas. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan emphasized responsible pet ownership during his visit to KBR Park in Jubilee Hills. He instructed officials to enforce this rule to keep parks clean and safe.
Pet owners in the GHMC area are encouraged to register their dogs using the MyGHMC app. This simple, free process benefits pet owners by providing important updates on vaccinations and de-worming. It also supports the GHMC’s goal of promoting responsible pet care.
Commissioner Karnan also checked on pedestrian infrastructure projects, urging engineers to use innovative and efficient techniques for quick completion.
He reviewed the construction of flyovers and underpasses under the H-City project, ensuring they comply with court orders. Engineers confirmed all projects adhere to guidelines and remain within sensitive areas.
Additional Commissioner Subhadra, DC Sammayya, EE Manya Nayak, SE Sri Lakshmi, Dy EE Harish, Circle EE Vijay Kumar, and others accompanied the Commissioner.
On June 1, Commissioner Karnan visited Malakpet to evaluate joint operations by the GHMC and the Water Board aimed at easing traffic caused by drainage overflow. He inspected night-time drainage work and projects from Necklace Road Railway Station to Kundan Bagh.
He urged engineering teams to expedite the work, deploy more manpower, and maintain 24-hour operations to minimize public disruption. Superintending Engineer Maheshwar Reddy informed the Commissioner that while there’s no immediate congestion threat, rapid completion will provide lasting benefits.
