Hyderabad:
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee, led by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, held a meeting on Thursday to discuss and approve several developmental projects for the city.
During the meeting, which was the fourth standing committee session, the Mayor encouraged members to work together to improve the city’s infrastructure and overall development.
One of the major projects approved was the construction of a four-lane, bi-directional elevated corridor from Indira Park to the VST main road. This corridor will cross key areas including NTR Stadium, Ashoknagar Junction, RTC Crossroad, and Baghlingampally Junction. Additionally, the committee approved the building of a three-lane, bi-directional grade separator from Ramnagar to Baghlingampally, passing through the VST junction. The government sanctioned a revised budget of Rs 565 crore for these projects, which is Rs 139 crore more than the original estimate of Rs 426 crore.
The committee also approved a proposal from the Zonal Commissioner of Kukatpally to collaborate with the Dr. Vijay Kumar Datla Foundation. This initiative aims to provide skill development and job opportunities to women and unemployed youth in slum areas under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to hand over the model market in Bollaram.
Additionally, the committee reviewed and approved the GHMC’s financial receipts and expenditure statements for the months ending March 31, 2024, April 30, 2024, and May 31, 2024. They also agreed to upload details of 2BHK beneficiaries to the PMAY HFA (U) online portal of the Government of India via the agency KONA e-DATA SOLUTIONS. The project will cost Rs 12,38,534.
In another decision, the committee approved the adoption of Gurunath Cheruvu Lake in Miyapur by the Malligavad Foundation, Hyderabad, for rejuvenation under CSR. An MoU was signed for this project, which will last six months. The committee also approved the hosting and maintenance of 15 GHMC modules and renewed the agreement for three years, up to October 2026, at a cost of Rs 9,88,41,234.
Lastly, the committee approved a study tour for GHMC corporators. The tour is scheduled for September and will cover cities like Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Indore, Lucknow, and Guwahati. The tour will be conducted in three phases, with 50 members in each group, accompanied by a GHMC official holding the rank of Assistant Municipal Commissioner.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Amrapali Kata, along with several standing committee members including Bannala Geetha, Praveen Mudiraj, Mohammed Muzaffar Hussain, and others.
