A teenage girl named B Pooja hanged herself at her boyfriend’s house in Jawaharnagar, a suburb of Hyderabad. She was 18 years old and lived in Mehdipatnam, attending a fashion design course at an institute in Chaitanyapuri. Pooja had been in a relationship with Dayakar, who lived in Yapral, for a few years. They had even planned to get married soon.
However, when Dayakar’s mother found out about their relationship, she was against it. She spoke to her son and Pooja about it, and also contacted Pooja’s parents. Despite this, Dayakar called Pooja and asked her to meet him in Chaitanyapuri. After meeting, he brought her back to his house.
An argument broke out between Pooja, Dayakar, and his mother. Pooja went into a room and locked the door. Tragically, she hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a scarf. Dayakar and his mother were charged with abetment of suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
The police are investigating the incident.
