Members of the OBC Employees Association of the University of Hyderabad and the All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) submitted a representation to the Parliament Committee for the Welfare of OBCs. G Kiran Kumar, General Secretary of AIOBCSA, stated that during the committee’s recent visit to the city, they discussed various issues. These included establishing research centers named after Phule across the country and at the University of Hyderabad to study the OBC population and their related issues. They also emphasized the need to review rosters promptly and implement 27% reservations for professors, associate professors, and assistant professors.

The associations further demanded an increase in research fellowships for OBC students (NFOBC) by five times. They also called for reservations in Prime Minister’s Research Fellowships (PMRF) and in the allocation of employee quarters. Additionally, they suggested that OBCs should be considered for appointments as University Vice Chancellors and members of national-level committees based on their proportion in the population.
