Andhra Pradesh is facing major challenges due to continuous heavy rains causing floods throughout the state. Roads are underwater, ponds are overflowing, and many homes are experiencing severe waterlogging, creating serious problems for residents.
Authorities are actively working to help people in affected areas. They are moving residents from flood-hit locations to safer rehabilitation centers. Local leaders advise people to stay alert and only go outside if it’s necessary.
Prakhar Jain, head of the AP Disaster Management Agency, reported a significant increase in flood levels in the Krishna and Godavari rivers. A first danger warning is issued due to high flood flow at Prakasam Barrage. The Godavari River is currently seeing an inflow and outflow of 4.92 lakh cusecs, with water at Bhadrachalam reaching 42.2 feet. The Cotton Barrage in Dhavaleswaram is experiencing 7.38 lakh cusecs of water flow.
District administrations are on high alert, and the government has provided Rs 16 crore for immediate relief. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are actively conducting rescue operations. MD Prakhar Jain advises people, especially in Lanka villages, to be careful and avoid crossing streams and canals.
