Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has ordered the State government to pause the Group-1 recruitment process conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) until further notice. This decision was made by Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwara Rao on Thursday after reviewing a petition filed by Matta Paramesh and 19 others.
The petitioners claimed that there were serious issues in the evaluation of the Group-1 Mains exam, held from October 21 to 27, 2024. They said the irregularities affected their answer sheets and led to an incorrect general ranking list. They asked the court to either re-evaluate the answer scripts, hold a re-exam, or issue a new ranking list after correcting the mistakes.
Their senior lawyer, B Rachna Reddy, argued that the recruitment process had many flaws and requested that all further steps in the recruitment be stopped. He also asked for an independent or court-monitored inquiry into the evaluation process.
On the other hand, TGPSC’s lawyer Rajasekhar said the exam and its evaluation were carried out properly. He insisted that the claims made by the petitioners were baseless and that the State was ready to prove this in court.
After hearing both sides, Justice Rao directed the government to stop the ongoing certificate verification process for 10 days. This process was originally supposed to end by April 22.
Rajasekhar responded that stopping the certificate verification was very difficult, especially since the final appointment process is scheduled to begin on April 30. He requested the court to deliver a judgment by April 21 to avoid any delays in recruitment.
However, Justice Rao said he would not be available on Monday due to personal reasons. Therefore, he ordered the government and TGPSC to stop the Group-1 appointment process until the next court hearing, which has been postponed to April 28.
