Due to the impact of Cyclone Montha, heavy rains are causing increased water flow from upstream areas. As a result, officials have opened six gates of Gandipet and four gates of Himayat Sagar to release water into the Musi River. The water board is on high alert as these twin reservoirs are receiving significant floodwaters. Gates of both Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar are lifted to manage the overflow.

Osman Sagar is currently experiencing an inflow of 3,400 cusecs. To handle this, six gates have been opened, releasing 2,240 cusecs downstream. At Himayat Sagar, 5,800 cusecs are flowing in, with four gates open to discharge 3,963 cusecs. Local residents in low-lying areas have been warned. Municipal Commissioner Sharath Chandra is overseeing several areas within the Bandlaguda Jagir Municipal Corporation. Residents are advised to stay indoors unless necessary and report any issues to local authorities, who remain accessible.

The Himayat Sagar ORR service road near Exit-17 has been damaged by the strong water currents. Water is forcefully flowing over the road. Authorities urge people to avoid these areas for safety. Every year, the opening of the Himayat Sagar gates leads to road damage, prompting locals to request the construction of a flyover.
