Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) has achieved remarkable growth in passenger traffic, recording its highest-ever international passenger numbers in November 2025, according to the latest operational data released by the airport authorities.
The airport handled 2.74 million passengers in November 2025, marking a 6.8 percent year-on-year increase. Domestic passengers accounted for 2.3 million, up by 5.8 percent, while international passengers reached 0.49 million, registering an impressive 11.5 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
Aircraft movements at the airport also witnessed steady growth, with 17,757 movements recorded in November, reflecting a 6.5 percent increase from the previous year.
The airport’s performance for the year-to-date period of FY2026 has been equally impressive, with total passenger traffic reaching 20.7 million, the highest ever recorded. This represents a 9.6 percent year-on-year growth. Domestic traffic stood at 17.0 million passengers, up by 9.2 percent, while international traffic reached 3.7 million, growing by 11.5 percent.
Aircraft movements for the year-to-date period totaled 141,833, marking a 9.8 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.
The airport has maintained a consistent operational trajectory, sustaining over 2.5 million passengers every month since October 2024. Both domestic and international traffic segments are currently operating at record levels.
HYD Airport currently connects 99 destinations worldwide, including 73 domestic and 26 international cities. Recent network expansions include Cathay Pacific scaling up its Hyderabad-Hong Kong route to daily operations starting November 2025. Additionally, IndiGo has increased its Hyderabad-Kolkata frequency to 56 flights per week.
Beyond passenger operations, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has emerged as a significant aerospace hub. The airport is home to the world’s largest engine MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facility operated by Safran, strengthening Hyderabad’s position in the global aerospace sector.
The airport has also gained recognition for its sustainability initiatives and commitment to environmental, social, and governance principles. These efforts have positioned the airport as one of India’s fastest-evolving aviation gateways.
The consistent growth in both passenger numbers and aircraft movements demonstrates the increasing importance of Hyderabad as a major aviation hub in India. The airport’s expansion in international connectivity, particularly the growth in passenger traffic to overseas destinations, reflects the city’s growing global linkages.
The sustained monthly passenger traffic of over 2.5 million since October 2024 indicates stable demand and operational efficiency at the airport. The year-to-date figures for FY2026 represent the strongest performance in the airport’s history across all key metrics.
