Hyderabad saw a gathering of young job seekers and students attempting to block the state government offices, demanding a job notification schedule. On Friday, police detained several protesters.
The group rallied under the slogan “Hello Unemployed, Chalo Secretariat,” accusing the Congress government of failing to fulfill its promise of providing jobs to the youth. They are pressing for the release of notifications to fill the 200,000 government jobs pledged within a year. However, only 11,000 positions have been filled out of the promised 50,000.
Protesters claim the government is slow in announcing job opportunities and is taking undue credit for jobs initiated by the previous BRS government. They raised concerns about delays and issues in recruitment, especially for Group-I positions and roles in the Electricity department.
Ahead of the demonstrations, authorities preemptively detained some youth leaders to prevent disturbances.
BRS leader KTR criticized the arrests, arguing that the government is suppressing peaceful protests. He remarked that Congress has announced fewer than 10,000 new positions in 19 months, with most jobs being sanctioned by the former BRS administration.
KTR warned that if promises are not met, BRS will organize large-scale protests with students and unemployed youth.
