Hyderabad is focusing on fire safety during the Ganesh festival. On Wednesday, T Venkanna, the District Fire Officer, visited several Ganesh pandals at Kali Kaman, Gulzar Houz, and Charminar in the Old City. He talked to organisers about important fire safety practices.
Venkanna stressed the need for fire safety in crowded areas like the Old City. He advised keeping access routes open for emergency teams. Each pandal should have at least two portable fire extinguishers, dry sand buckets, and a water barrel for emergencies.
For electrical safety, he urged regular checks on wiring and equipment to avoid short circuits and fires. He also highlighted the importance of having an emergency plan, including evacuation procedures and readily available firefighting tools.
Venkanna stated that by following these guidelines, the risk of fires can be minimized, ensuring safer celebrations. He instructed fire officers to monitor the pandals continuously, visiting them daily to protect both lives and property.
