    Hyderabad’s love for biryani continues to soar, according to Swiggy’s annual report for 2024. The report revealed that residents of the city ordered a whopping 1.57 crore biryanis this year. That’s an average of 34 biryanis being ordered every minute!

    Chicken biryani was the clear favorite, with 97.21 lakh plates ordered, translating to 21 chicken biryanis every minute. In one standout instance, a foodie in Hyderabad spent Rs. 18,840 to order 60 biryanis at once.

    Interestingly, even first-time Swiggy users couldn’t resist biryani, collectively ordering 4.46 lakh chicken biryanis. During the T20 Cricket World Cup, Hyderabad’s biryani craze peaked, with 8.69 lakh chicken biryanis being delivered during the tournament.

    Apart from biryanis, Hyderabad also showed enthusiasm for other food items. One customer spent Rs. 30,563 on a pizza party, reflecting the city’s penchant for indulgent celebrations. Chicken shawarmas were another favorite, followed by chicken rolls and chicken nuggets.

    For breakfast, dosas remained a top choice among Hyderabadi residents. The city ranked first in the country for onion dosa consumption, while 17.54 lakh orders were placed for non-onion dosas.

    Hyderabad’s food habits highlight not just a love for biryani but also a diverse range of culinary preferences. The city has truly earned its reputation as a foodie haven!
