Hyderabad police recently busted a counterfeit Apple accessories operation near Hari Masjid, Miralam Mandi. The raid, led by the Central Zone Team of the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force and Apple’s copyright representatives, resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved in selling fake Apple products. Authorities confiscated counterfeit items valued at approximately Rs 3 crore.
The suspects include Mohd Shahid Ali from Miralam Mandi, who allegedly acquired fake accessories from agents and stored them at his home. Irfan Ali from L.B Nagar bought these items from Shahid and distributed them further. Santosh Rajpurohit, owner of PM Mobiles in Koti, sold them in his shop. Both Shahid and Irfan are originally from Uttar Pradesh.
Police discovered that the group was selling fake accessories with copied Apple logos, MRP stickers, and packaging, making them look like genuine products. These counterfeit items tricked customers, causing financial loss and damaging Apple’s brand.
In total, 2,761 fake products were seized, including 28 watches, 1,145 AirPods, 52 cables, 14 adapters, 4 MagSafe power banks, 260 watch box covers, 480 watch SKU stickers, 428 MRP stickers, and 350 security seals.
YVS Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, explained that the suspects sourced these fake products from marketing agents in Mumbai. They repackaged them with fake branding and sold them as real Apple accessories, misleading the public and profiting illegally. The raid, carried out on July 25, led to the arrest of the individuals and the confiscation of the counterfeit goods. The suspects and seized items were handed over to the Mirchowk police for further investigation.
